Hotel Mariandl in Spitz on the Danube

The Hotel Mariandl in Spitz an der Donau, the first hotel in the Wachau, was built as a "tourist home". The hotel became famous through an Austrian feature film by Werner Jacobs from 1961, a remake of the stage play "Der Hofrat Geiger" with Conny Froboess and Rudolf Prack as well as Waltraut Haas, Gunther Philipp, Peter Weck and Hans Moser in the leading roles.
